Teletherapy
Teletherapy
Teletherapy (sometimes called telehealth, virtual counseling, online counseling) is a similar process as individual and/or family counseling only it’s done online through a HIPAA secure portal hosted by Simple Practice. There may be many benefits to teletherapy depending on your needs. There is growing documented research that supports teletherapy as being as effective as in-person therapy for many of the same issues and concerns. Psychology Today reports on several studies from scholarly journals that include the Journal of Affective Disorders, Journal of Psychological Disorders, and Behavior Research and Therapy that reports teletherapy is just as effective using Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) for anxiety, depression, and other concerns.
Teletherapy may be an ideal option for those that find difficulty in accessing therapy in person or as an option to help slow illness such as Covid 19 or the flu, etc. Caldwell Counseling Center provides teletherapy for not only Houston and surrounding areas, but throughout the state of Texas. Please visit the individual and/or family counseling pages to learn more about the counseling process. If you are uncertain if online counseling is for you, please contact me directly and I will be happy to discuss your particular situation and see if teletherapy is right for you.
*Teletherapy may not be appropriate in all situations.
Here are a few things you can do to get the most out of your virtual counseling session:
- Have a quiet space free from distractions where confidentiality can be maintained.
- Have abundant light sources as to be seen clearly.
- When possible, use a computer with the latest up-to-date browser.
- Close out all other open programs and apps.
- Use earbuds or headphones to help with feedback and other noise issues.
*Please do not use this platform while driving.
